Pre-treatment Finishes?
A range of quality finishes available from Colour Anodisers
In order to improve and stylishly modify the appearance of the product Colour Anodisers use the following pre-treatments mechanical or chemical.
Brushed finish (linished).
An ideal textured finish for labels front panels, enclosures, nameplates and, dials. A brushed finish can be combined with etching and bead blasting to create very distinctive effects.
Note: If printed legends are to be applied then a coarse finish is not recommended.
Bead blasted finish
An ideal textured finish for labels, front panels, enclosures, nameplates and, dials. Again, we often combine this with the above brushed finish.
Colour Anodisers use glass beads ranging in size from # 6 coarse to # 13 fine and by spraying them with compressed air avoid damaging the surface. This technique enables us to create a vast array of textured effects on the chosen substrate from a coarse industrial look to a fine satin sheen finish. If printed legends are to be applied then a coarse finish is not recommended. the glass beads can be recycled approximately 25 times the process is environmentally friendly and chemically inert.
Polished
An excellent finish for labels, front panels, enclosures, back panels, nameplates and dials. Once again, we often combine this with the brushed and, bead blasted finish detailed above.
Colour Anodisers polish by mechanical methods or by hand to remove blemishes such as die lines and scratches to produce a mirror like finish. Please note: not all alloys produce a suitable gloss finish when polished.
Chemical pre- treatment
Chemical etching is used on stainless steel, steel, and on aluminium prior to the anodising process. A heavy etching treatment on aluminium can help to improve slight surface and edge imperfections.
